Tunnel Featured in American Cinematographer
Watch out for the August issue of American Cinematographer where Tunnel colorist Sebastian Perez is featured for his work on Femme Fatales. Working side by side with DP Roger Chingirian, Sebastian has been challenged to create a new look for the series on each episode. The anthology series is already in its second season with Tunnel running all post on the series from editorial to vfx and finishing.
Sundance Favorite BELLFLOWER opens Theatrically August 5th
After receiving acclaim at several film festivals (Sundance, South by Southwest, Seattle) "BELLFLOWER" was picked up for domestic distribution by Oscilloscope. Director Evan Goddell designed and built custom cameras to shoot this film that Tunnel then put all the finishing touches on.

Machine Gun Preacher Theatrical Release set for Sept 23rd

Relativity Media announced that it has acquired North American rights from Lionsgate to theatrically market and distribute Machine Gun Preacher. Directed and produced by DGA and Golden Globe®-nominee Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Monster’s Ball) and written by Jason Keller (Relativity’s Untitled Snow White Project), the film stars Gerard Butler (300) in a tour de force performance and will release in Los Angeles and New York on September 23, 2011. The film will expand markets in the weeks to follow. Lionsgate will continue to oversee international distribution on the film, working in partnership with Relativity.


 

The film also showcases powerful performances by an ensemble cast, including Michelle Monaghan (Due Date), Kathy Baker (Cold Mountain), Oscar®-nominee Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road), Madeline Carroll (The Spy Next Door) and breakout actor Souleymane Sy Savane (Goodbye Solo).


 

Machine Gun Preacher is based on the true story of Sam Childers, a former drug-dealing criminal who finds faith leading him on a path to East Africa. Shocked by the mayhem in Sudan, Childers becomes a crusader for hundreds of refugee children. Inspired to create a safe haven for the multitudes fleeing enslavement by the brutal Lord’s Resistance Army, he restores peace to their lives and eventually his own.


 

Tunnel founder Kyle Jackson is one of the Executive Producers of this powerful film.

SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA Opens Theatrically Sept. 2nd
Scheduled for Theatrical Release September 2nd, 2011, SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA is Directed by first time feature helmer, Matt Russell. Tunnel housed the film for their entire post production process on this inspirational tale based on the well known book, “Golf’s Sacred Journey”. This marks the 3 collaboration with producer Jason Berman and Mark Mathis. We look forward to many many more great films together.

Fiddy plays the son of a murdered NYPD officer, who gains the patronage of this father’s former Partner (De Niro) and joins his “rogue task force” (Forest Whitaker etc.). FREELANCERS is directed by regular Jessy Terrero who also helmed Fiddy’s GUN for which Tunnel did the post on last year.  We are excited to be working with such a talented director again so soon.

Working along side with Wildfire Studios, Tunnel will be preforming the DI for Andrew Dominik's "Cogan's Trade". In "Cogan's Trade" Jackie Cogan is a professional enforcer who investigates a heist that went down during a mob-protected poker game.

THE DIVIDE is picked up for theatrical at SXSW by Anchor Bay
Tunnel provides all the theatrical elements and final delivery for "The Divide". This marks the first production and post production services collaboration with producers Ross Dinerstein and Kevin Iwashima and director Xavier Gens.

11.11.11 finds “post home” at Tunnel Post!
The cult "11.11.11" movement centers on the belief that the number 11 is an alert to guardian angels trying to communicate with humans throughout history. Darren Lynn Bousman, director of several movies in the Saw franchise, also helmed 11.11.11 which fittingly arrives in theatres November 11th, 2011. Tunnel reteams with long time clients, Dan Voltz, Epic Pictures, and Wanye Rice to bring this one to the silver screen.

Tunnel completes new facility expansion on 3rd and Wilshire. The new facility boasts nearly 15,000 sq ft and counting of brand new editorial facilities right along side the largest DI stage on the west side of LA. The new 24 ft theater is outfitted with the best in both sound and picture to make the room not only a great place to finish the DI on your film but also a GREAT industry screening environment. Seven Days in Utopia wraps principal photography. SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA follows the story of Luke Chisolm (Lucas Black), a talented young golfer set on making the pro tour. When his first big shot turns out to be a very public disaster, Luke escapes the pressures of the game and finds himself unexpectedly stranded in Utopia, Texas, home to eccentric rancher Johnny Crawford (Robert Duvall). Based on David L. Cook's best-selling book Golf's Sacred Journey: Seven Days at the Links of Utopia, SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA also stars Melissa Leo, Deborah Ann Woll, Brian Geraghty, Jerry Ferrera, Joseph Lyle Taylor, KJ Choi and Kathy Baker. Catch .44 begins production. Forest Whitaker, Bruce Willis and Malin Akerman will star in independent drama "Catch .44." The story focuses on three women -- led by Akerman's character -- being thrust into an extraordinary situation involving a psychopathic hitman, played by Whitaker, a grizzled trucker and a delusional line cook. Willis will play the head crime boss, the mastermind behind everything that happens.

NEW OFFICE CURRENTLY UNDER RENOVATION

Phase One of Construction:  Includes 5 completely new Editorial Suites, as well as modifications to 5 existing suites and Administrative Offices.  Also includes, a Commercial Color Suite, comparable in size to our current 2K DI Theatre.

 

Phase Two:  Brand New Theatre, with a 23' wide Projection Screen and seating 50 people.  The theatre will primarily be used for  Color Correction and double as a mix stage, but will also be available for private screenings.

THE NEW TENANTS: Winner - Short Form (Live Action)

Joachim Back, Director.  Tivi Magnusson, Producer.  This is the first Academy Award nomination for Back and the second for Magnusson.  Two men move into an apartment and find themselves entangled in its terrifying history.  Starring Liane Balaban, Kevin Corrigan and Vincent D'Onofrio. Watch the trailer

 

TUNNEL created the Internegative for "The New Tenants" using the Cinevator, which is ideal for short forms, and small releases, but also an economic choice for Digital Intermediate Features.

TUNNEL Sponsors Cinequest Film Festival 20

2010 celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the Cinequest Film Festival.  This year, there will be more than 200 film screenings, including 45 U.S. and World Premieres.

 

In addition to sponsoring the festival, Tunnel completed the Digital Intermediate for "Raspberry Magic".  This film, made possible the the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science, will hold its World Premiere at the festival, as well as compete.

 

The festival will be held San Jose, CA in February 23 through March 7.  Festival details and passes available at Cinequest.org

"The Dry Land" Will Premiere at Sundance 2010

For the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, 112 feature-length films were selected representing 39 countries by 43 first-time filmmakers.  These films were selected from 3,724 feature-length film submissions composed of 1,920 U.S. and 1,804 international feature-length films. 79 films at the Festival will be world premieres.

 

"The Dry Land" is one of sixteen films competing for Best U.S. Dramatic film.  Directed and written by Ryan Piers Williams, this poignant drama follows a U.S. soldier as he tries to reconcile his experiences overseas with his life back in Texas.  With America Ferrera, Wilmer Valderrame, Ethan Suplee, June Diane Raphael and Melissa Leo.

 

TUNNEL will finish the Digital Intermediate and Film Recording for the premiere during the festival, January 21-31.

"Across the Hall" Premieres in Los Angeles

The "Across the Hall" Premiere was held at The Laemmle Music Hall 3  Theatre in Beverly Hills on Monday, December 1, 2009.  Co-stars Brittany Murphy, Danny Pino and Mike Vogel were all in attendance.  See photos from the Premiere Event!

 

Director Alex Merkin's feature-length noir thriller. Terry (Pino) learns that his fiancée (Murphy), has checked into a hotel with another man, sending him into a fit of near-homicidal fury. Desperate to hear a friendly voice, he calls his best friend (Vogel), admitting he's in a hotel room across the hall from June and he plans to kill her lover.

 

TUNNEL completed the Digital Intermediate and film recording for this feature.

November 2009

"The People Speak" Premieres in New York City

The History Channel version of "The People Speak" premiered in New York, NY on Thursday, November 19.  It was a star-studded event, with many actors, performers and artists who contributed to the documentary in attendance.  The History Channel will air "The People Speak" on Sunday December 13, 8/7c.


The full-length documentary, the Director's Cut, also previewed in Los Angeles November 30 at the Aero Theatre.  The Director's Cut DVD will be available January 26, 2010.  The Soundtrack will be released by Verve Records on December 8, 2009.  The soundtrack features performances from the documentary, including Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, Lupe Fiasco, Pink and more.
